Lozere Holiday rentals between private home-owners

Book a vacation rental in Lozere Languedoc-Roussillon. Located north of the region, Lozere is the least populated department of France, and is named after the 1700 m high Mont Lozere which is also called the Bald Mountain because it consists of high plateaus covered with moors. The department is located at the crossroads of four administrative regions: Languedoc-Roussillon, Rhone-Alpes, Auvergne and the Midi-Pyrenees regions which offer many possibilities for walks and visits. The department is divided into four natural regions (Margeride, Aubrac, Cévennes and Causses) including a paradise for fishermen as well as immense pastures interspersed with woods, meadows and streams. These plateaus are topped by huge granite rocks perfect for rock climbing with the highest point being the 1552 m Fortunio. Aubrac, a basalt plateau covered with rivers and lakes attracts hikers and walkers. The Cevennes, a hi-shale wedged between Mount Aigoual and Mont Lozère, is a very hilly region interspersed by rivers which cross it and is also very popular with hikers. The Corniche des Cévennes offers the possibility of a beautiful scenic route through the passes of Rey, Faïsses and the French valley where Stevenson, the author of Treasure Island, has trekked through. The Causses, vast arid plateaus, divided by the Tarn Gorge has lots of spots for water sports (rowing, canoeing, kayaking) and walks in the valley floor and overhead. To discover these natural areas, you may book a vacation rental in Lozere or in the Tarn Gorge.
